CISTERCIAN TEAM C!
First off on the agenda. Older stuff that I haven’t gotten around to posting that’s piled up from Wednesday. I missed participating in the actual Grey Tuesday itself (which was scheduled for the same day as Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday). On this day, one hundred thousand people protested against the EMI record company by downloading the DJ Danger Mouse’s Grey Album, a remix between the rapper Jay Z’s Black Album and the Beatles’ White Album. The Grey Album was hosted on 170 different sites in protest. Here are two other articles regarding Grey Tuesday besides the home site. http://www.eff.org/IP/greytuesday.php and http://wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,62372,00.html?tw=wntophead_4
In the words of Jonathan,

Ok, so on to things about life. Well, I came back from the math competition at Rice about thirty minutes ago, and I’m very tired from sitting in the car for a long time. Overall, Cistercian placed fifth. We didn’t get the first place we had hoped for, but we still beat St. Mark’s and some of those other rival schools. And yes, on Friday, for some reason there was a pep rally for the math competition?! It was reaaaaally funny. Anyway, the Rice competition was extremely unorganized. In the elevator when we were going to the fourth floor to our team room (CISTERCIAN TEAM C, w00t!) our proctor was in there with us, but for some reason he went to the second floor. Then he showed up in our room after a while and said he didn’t have our exams, and didn’t know where to get them… so he wrote a random proof on the board, told us to solve it, and ran away. Some other guy came and gave us our tests and went somewhere else. No, we didn’t get anywhere on the Power. After that we had the Algebra and Geometry competitions, then lunch. After lunch, the team competition. The proctor was twenty minutes late, but at least he came… and this guy went somewhere else after he gave us the tests too. We messed around in both team contests, but in the Team competition our C team placed, beating our A and B teams! Yeaah, go us! Haha. Then the long car ride back. And that’s about it.
So we didn’t get the “triple crown” (as Dr. Newcomb called it) that we had hoped for, but we still beat St. Mark’s… Chris Ferguson is still really good though. I think he and two other people together got first overall? I’m not quite sure on that, but it really is quite possible. =o
Oh, one more thing. I almost got to see Masaru today. I mean, he lives in Houston and near Rice, but… schedules didn’t really work out this time. Noooooo. There’s always next year though. Our school goes to Rice every year so, maybe next year. Maybe next year.
And what am I listening to now? How about the opening theme from Shaolin Soccer? =)

Actually, yes, it was Shaolin Soccer.
