Wireless at Escapé

Categories: Everything, Life, Tech

Well, I went to Escapé (the local tea/internet café/bakery place, owned by the Lollicup chain) again today with Allen and Jonathan (Jonathan was there for a little bit). This time I brought a laptop to try their free wireless internet (yes, free hotspot!). Allen brought one along too. We ran speed tests to see how fast it was. It seems to be about 1.5mbs down and 1.5mbs up. That, if the servers you were downloading from/uploading to could handle it, would give you downloads and uploads both at rates of around 200 kilobytes/second (although practially you would get around 170). That upload speed is amazing. Recently at our house we had our speed upgraded to 1.5mbs down and 384kbs up (upload stayed the same). Allen said we should put a little computer in the corner and host a server for something there. XD

If you don’t want to pay $3/hour to use one of the computers they have at Escapé, it’s much more affordable to just bring your own laptop with a wireless card to make use of the free fast internet. It’s fun hanging out there too. Sit around and use free pretty fast internet. Easy to set up as well… and you can buy bubbletea or whatever your favorite Lollicup drink is. Mmm.

We’ll probably go there again (next week?).

Listening to a prog breaks/trance set DJ’d by someone at tranceaddict. Pretty good, I must say…

Now Playing: Jordan Ash - Live @ Home (05-24-04) Part 1 / genre: Trance

Edit: And yeah, Allen owned me at Go at Escapé… haha. You play Go too much! O_o
