A Brush of Wind

Categories: Everything, Photos

A Brush of Wind, originally uploaded by TheMacro.

I haven’t really gone outside and taken pictures in a while, so today I decided to take my camera and walk around outside. There was a bit of wind blowing on the grass, hence the name.

The Dating Personality Profile Quiz

Categories: Everything, Quizzes

I haven’t taken a quiz to post on my blog in a long time, so here is one that I’ve been seeing floating around, like at Daniel’s, Reuben’s, and Wannie’s. I wouldn’t say it’s amazingly accurate, but you wouldn’t be expecting that in the first place– it’s “just another online quiz”, after all! Consequently, you can say what you will of these results.

Your dating personality profile:

Traditional - Modern culture does not move you. You hold traditional values dear to your heart.
Religious - Faith matters to you. It is the foundation that you build your life upon. You trust that God has a plan for you.
Big-Hearted - You are a kind and caring person. Your warmth is inviting, and your heart is a wellspring of love.
Your date match profile:

Traditional - You need someone who is a bit old-fashioned. A person with traditional values and beliefs will perfectly compliment your lifestyle.
Practical - You are drawn to people who are sensible and smart. Flashy, materialistic people turn you off. You appreciate the simpler side of living.
Shy - You are put off by people who are open books. You are drawn to someone who is a bit more mysterious. You want to draw her out of her shell and get to know what she is all about.

Rest in Peace, John Paul II

Categories: Everything, Religion

I have looked for you. Now you have come to me. And I thank you.

These were the last words of Pope John Paul II, said while suffering from breathing difficulties, to the immense crowd outside in St. Peter’s Square.

From Catholic Online:

VATICAN CITY - John Paul II, whose 26-year reign as the charismatic leader of the world’s 1 billion Roman Catholics was highlighted by visits to 129 countries, died Saturday. He was 84.

“The Holy Father is deceased this evening at 9:37 in his private apartment,” Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said in a written statement.

“Our beloved Holy Father John Paul II has returned to his home. Let us pray for him,” he added.

Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the Vatican’s secretary of state, asked the throng of thousands of faithful who had congregated in St. Peter’s Square for a few moments of silence as he announced the death to thousands gathered at the site. Members of the crowd bowed their heads to pray, some of them in tears.

They then burst into applause.

Pilgrims, tourists and Italians filled St. Peter’s Square on Saturday, hours after tens of thousands of people packed the vast space in a nighttime vigil. Friday night, thousands of people gathered in Krakow, Poland — where John Paul served as archbishop before becoming pope — at the archbishop’s residence, many carrying candles and crying. People in the crowd prayed and sang for their fellow Pole.

He has done so many great things throughout his long papacy, actively working for ecumenism and other noble causes. For example, he played a major role in the downfall of communism. He certainly has made a huge impact on the world.

His death comes to us happy in some ways, and sad in other ways. It is good that one can almost be sure where he, such a holy and saintly man, is headed after death– to heaven. On the other hand, his death will leave an empty spot on the pontifical chair. It will be a space hard to fill, to live up to JP II’s legacy. Many doubt that the next pope will be nearly as great a man as him, but who knows? We shall see.

Rest in peace, Holy Father.
